Luoxing Island - Sacred Site of the Lake

Tongli Lake covers an area of approximately 2.4 million square meters. To the southwest lies a small island floating on the lake called “Luoxing”, a sacred site that integrates Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism, spanning nearly 2,700 square meters. Built during the Yuan Dynasty, all its structures were burned down by Japanese forces during the Anti-Japanese War. Since 1996, the local government has been reconstructing the temples and pavilions. The island features the Guanyin Hall, Guandi Hall, Wenchang Pavilion, Bell and Drum Towers, a land boat, winding corridors, curved bridges, lotus ponds, fish ponds, and a willow-lined embankment encircling the island. Access to the island requires a boat ride.

Listening the rain on the island is a divine indulgence for the scholars in the past dynasties. In summer, all the Tongli residents are coming to the lake for the lotus. Over the past decade, the island has hosted the "Evening Drum and Morning Bell" at year-end, becoming a grand event.
